Person rescued after locator beacon set off in Whirinaki Forest Park

Rescue teams helped a person suffering a medical event out of a central North Island forest yesterday after a locator beacon was set off in the area.

A police spokeswoman said a person suffered a minor medical event in the Whirinaki Forest Park.

She said the person was helped out at about 7.15pm.

Ambulance staff were not required.
